Calm, compassionate support so people and families feel guided, supported, and not alone.

What you can expect from us

What hospice care is

What hospice care isn’t

People often come to Hospice Southland with questions - and that’s okay.

Support at home

Care and support in your own home or community. Our community nursing team works alongside your GP and other health professionals to help manage symptoms, provide guidance, and support both patients and families.

Inpatient care

Specialist care in our six-bed hospice inpatient unit when additional support or symptom management is needed.

Support for families & whānau

Emotional, practical, and bereavement support for families and whānau, including counselling, guidance for carers, and ongoing bereavement support.

Community-Powered Care

Hospice Southland exists because our community supports it.

Donors, Volunteer Talent, and hospice shops all play a vital role in ensuring care remains free, accessible, and responsive to the needs of people across Southland and the Wakatipu Basin.

Hospice Southland receives less than half of its funding from government sources, with the remainder raised through the generosity of our community.

For Health Professionals

Our Hospice Shops

Our hospice shops are more than places to donate or shop – they are a vital part of how Hospice Southland funds free care for patients and families.

Every quality item donated and every purchase made helps support compassionate care for patients and families across our region.
