Hospice shops
A community supporting care

Hospice Southland’s shops are an important part of how hospice care remains free and accessible for people across Southland and the Wakatipu Basin.
Every purchase, donation, and volunteer shift helps fund specialist palliative care for people living with life-limiting illness and the families who support them.
Hospice shops are more than retail stores, they are community spaces where generosity is turned into care.

Shop, donate, or volunteer
There are many ways people support Hospice Southland through our shops.
Whether you are browsing for something special, donating quality goods, or volunteering your time, every contribution helps make hospice care possible.
You can support hospice shops by:
+ Shopping for quality pre-loved clothing, homewares, books, and unique items
+ Donating items in good condition that can be resold in our stores
+ Volunteering your time to support shop operations
+ Encouraging friends, family, and community groups to support hospice shops
Each item purchased or donated helps fund hospice services for local families.
Donating goods
Our shops rely on the generosity of the community through donations of quality goods.
Donated items are sorted, priced, and prepared for sale by our shop teams and Volunteer Talent.
We are grateful for donations that are clean, in good condition, and suitable for resale.
(Detailed donation guidelines will be updated here.)
Volunteer in our shops
Hospice shops are largely supported by volunteers who help create welcoming spaces for customers and donors.
Volunteer Talent contribute in many ways, including:
+ Assisting customers in store
+ Sorting and pricing donated goods
+ Merchandising displays
+ Preparing items for sale
Volunteering in a hospice shop is a great way to meet people, contribute to the community, and support hospice care.

Community-powered care
Hospice Southland receives less than half of its funding from government sources, with the remaining support coming from the generosity of the community.
Hospice shops play a vital role in helping close that gap and ensure hospice care remains free for those who need it.
When you shop, donate, or volunteer, you become part of the community that helps make hospice care possible.
