Community-powered care

Hospice Southland exists because our community stands alongside us.

When someone in our region faces a life-limiting illness, it is not only a clinical journey – it is a human one. The care we provide is made possible by people who choose to give their time, their skills, their resources, and their compassion.

Every act of support strengthens the care we are able to offer. Every contribution becomes part of something larger – ensuring that no one in Southland or the Wakatipu Basin walks this journey alone.

Donate

Help ensure care remains free and accessible.

Hospice care is provided at no cost to patients and families. That is only possible because of the generosity of our community.

Your donation helps fund:

+ Specialist palliative nursing care
+ Inpatient support
+ Family and whānau services
+ Bereavement care
+ Community outreach across our region

Whether you choose to give once, give regularly, or leave a gift in your will, your support directly impacts local families at a time when it matters most.

Every contribution - large or small - helps sustain compassionate care.

Volunteer Talent

Share your time, skills, and experience

Hospice Southland’s volunteers are known as Volunteer Talent – people who bring their skills, compassion, and life experience to support hospice care in our community.

Volunteer Talent contribute in many ways, from supporting patients and families to helping in hospice shops, assisting with events, or sharing specialised skills.

By volunteering, you become part of the community that helps make hospice care possible.

We are committed to creating meaningful volunteer experiences that honour the strengths people bring and foster connection, inclusion, and mutual trust.

There is a place for your talent here.

Hospice Shops

A community supporting care.

Our hospice shops are more than retail spaces – they are community hubs where generosity is transformed into care.

Quality donated goods are thoughtfully sorted and resold, creating a circular model of support. Each purchase, each donated item, and each volunteer shift helps fund hospice services across our region.

When you shop, donate, or volunteer in our stores, you are directly contributing to the comfort, dignity, and support we provide to local patients and whānau.

Community support makes hospice care possible.

The impact of your support

Behind every act of generosity is a real person – a patient receiving care at home, a family feeling supported and informed, a whānau navigating loss with guidance and compassion.

Community-powered care means we do this together.

Your involvement – in whatever way feels right – helps ensure Hospice Southland can continue to provide comfort, dignity, and choice for those who need it most.
